Nanjing Agricultural University

Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), founded in 1902, is a state key university ,a “211 project ” university and a “985 innovation platform for superiority subject” university under the Chinese Ministry of Education. With agriculture and life sciences as its characteristics, NAU has a harmonious development of diverse branches of learning such as science, economics, engineering, liberal arts, management and law science. The University ranked the 39th among all the universities around the country in 2009.

NAU offers 60 Bachelor’s programs, 106 Master’s programs, and 65 Doctoral programs. The University has 32,000 students, 1,500 faculty members, including 280 professors and 480 associate professors. According to the second round of first-category discipline evaluation conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Education from 2006-2008, nine first-category disciplines of the University ranked among top five. They are agricultural and forestry economics and management, crop science, veterinary medicine, plant protection, utilization of agricultural resources, history of science and technology ,horticulture.,food science & engineering and animal science.

NAU has close academic links with more than 100 foreign universities, including University of Hohenheim in Germany, Cornell University in the US, University of Melbourne in Australia and Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

As early as 1959, NAU commenced to accept international students. In 2002, College of International Education was established, taking full responsibilities of the recruitment, cultivation and management of international students. Thereafter, international student education has made substantial progress. In 2012, there were 640 international students from 60 countries studying at NAU.
