NAU Professor Josef Voglmeir Won 2016 Jiangsu Friendship Award

2016 Jiangsu Friendship Award Ceremony was held by People’s Government of Jiangsu Province in Nanjing on the afternoon of September 26, 2016. Mr. Lei Zhang, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, presented the award to 20 international experts, including NAU professor Josef Voglmeir, in commendation of their outstanding contributions in economic and social development of Jiangsu.

Professor Josef Voglmeir is currently the full professor and doctoral supervisor in College of Food Science & Technology. He graduated from University of Manchester with Ph.D., and used to work for University of Manchester in UK, The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Austria, and Nagaoka University in Japan. At NAU, he has been doing research related to glycomics, carbohydrase bioengineering, ribose biosynthesis, and technology researches and applications for glycan microarray since 2012.

Regarded as the highest prize awarded by the provincial government for international experts working in Jiangsu, Jiangsu Friendship Award was given to 20 experts in 2016, among which 7 are recommended by colleges and universities. Professor Josef Voglmeir is the 9th international expert in NAU to receive this prize since 1997.
