Short Bio of Presenter:
Dr. Lars Brink is an independent advisor, retired from Canada’s Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food. He advises on agricultural trade and policy and takes particular interest in analysis of policy support in the context of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). For several years he advised government officials in China on domestic support issues in the context of China’s accession to the WTO. Brink represented the Canadian government in the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium and in meetings of the WTO and the OECD. A Fellow and former President of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society, he is also a Senior Fellow of the Canadian Agricultural Trade Policy Research Network and Associated Faculty at the Global Issues Initiative, Virginia Tech. He is a Foreign Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. Lars has carried out projects with organizations such as the FAO, the World Bank, the OECD and the ICTSD, with national governments and with universities. He has degrees in business and in agriculture (civilekonom and agronom) from Sweden and his M.S. and Ph.D. in agricultural economics are from Purdue University, USA.
