NAU Holds the Seminar on Agricultural Mechanization for African Countries

On May 9th, the opening ceremony of theSeminar on Agricultural Mechanization for African Countrieswas held online. Prof. Hu Feng, Vice President of Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) and Prof. Bernard Aduda, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Egerton University (EU) attended the ceremony and congratulated on the opening of the seminar. Both of them spoke highly of the long-term partnership between NAU and EU, which contributed greatly to capacity building and scientific research cooperation and extension. They also expressed their best wishes forthe seminar, which aimed at knowledge sharing and adaptation of China’s experience in agricultural mechanization in the African context.

The three-day seminar was composed of three sessions, inviting over 10 professors from both NAU and EU to deliver themed presentations. The first session focused on soil preparation, sowing and planting machinery. The second session focused on crop harvesting, drying or storing machinery. 

Thethirdsession focused on automatic control machinery. More than 60 young faculty members and postgraduates from four universities in three countries participated in the seminar. The four universities were Egerton University in Kenya, Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania, Ambo University and Hawassa University in Ethiopia. The seminar received positive responses from the participants.
